Artist Note
A story of loss of identity and then stepping into the true authentic self.

We spend our whole lives constantly adapting to our environment, trying to fit in, playing a part. There comes a point where we have worn so many masks, that we lose who we truly are. I chose the Chameleon, an artist at camouflage, to represent this loss of identity, by intentionally omitting the background. What happens when there is no environment to adapt to? What are his TRUE colours? There is understandably uncertainty, vulnerability and isolation, and it raises the uncomfortable question “when all masks are removed, who am I?” And yet, does he look lost and vulnerable? Not at all! He is expressing every unique element of himself freely, and the outcome is far more beautiful that any act or adaptation.

Find the courage to speak your truth.
